R-VOWELS
One of the hardest sounds to pronounce in English are the R-vowels. Listen carefully as I go through different R-vowel exercises with one of my students.
We first go through R-vowel exercises for R’s that are at the end of a word, like “hair”, or “weather”. One of the ways you can practice pronouncing this is by adding a word that starts with R. For example: “weather — rain”, or “road — rage”, “car — race”. Doing this will help you re-enforce the R sound at the end of a word.
Another way to practice R-vowels is to read paragraphs and sentences that have a lot of R’s. One of my students had trouble with R-blends. Listen carefully as I teach her how to pronounce R-blends correctly.
