Fermenting chicken feed improves its nutritional profile. As a result, the chickens require less of it, saving us a ton of money (organic, soy/corn-free feed isn't cheap).
It's pretty easy to do:
🐓Just fill 1/3 of a large jar with feed and add enough water to submerge everything.
🐓Stir and let sit for a couple of days (we usually feed it after 3-4 days of fermentation). During the colder months of the year, we use a heating belt, but during spring to fall, we let the feed ferment on the patio.
🐓Then just feed it to the hens!
