Please, be mindful Mazda does not always use the same key system protocol for the same model & year. For example, sometimes, the emergency key will program under a different Mazda system type.

Proximity keys stored will remain so unless you erase them, then 2 will be required. Once the locks cycle up and down, you have entered learn mode. The second time the locks cycle is one of the confirmations the proximity key has stored. If the locks do not cycle the second time, your most probable cause of failure is the proximity key supplied. Change the battery in the proximity key and verify the part number & source are valid. The strongest antenna strength can be found under the passenger side seat.
