The most common question parents ask at the time of primary vaccination is whether they should go for painless or painful vaccine. DPT vaccination done at the age of 6,10 and 14 weeks gives us the choice to choose between these two vaccines. The pertussis component of DPT vaccines decides about it's reactogenicity. The whole cell vaccine known as DTwP vaccine is the one which causes pain and fever for two to three days after the injection. On the other hand the Acellular component of Pertussis in DPT known as DTaP is the one which causes less pain or fever after the shot. Most of the time it goes smoothly and doesn't cause fever and pain that's why it's labelled as Painless vaccine. The antibodies after DTwP vaccine last much longer than DTaP vaccination therefore I personally recommend this DTwP vaccine.
We suggest to take paracetamol drops every six hours for two days after vaccination plus cold compress at the injection site. Usually it goes smoothly if we follow it.
