International World Tuberculosis Day marks the date in 1882 when Dr Robert Koch announced that he had discovered the bacterium that causes Tuberculosis (TB), opening the door to diagnosing and curing TB. TB remains one of the deadliest infectious diseases.
This video demonstrates the potential use of our high-resolution photon-counting computed tomography system in lung imaging. Quantitative material information is produced, which could lead to a deeper understanding of infectious lung diseases when used with targeted pharmaceuticals and intrinsic markers. This is especially critical in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Iodine, a common contrast used in clinical computed tomography (CT) imaging, was taken up by granulomas or lesions caused by tuberculosis (TB) infection. Spectral photon-counting computed tomography (CT) imaging used in conjunction with targeted pharmaceuticals and intrinsic markers have the potential to improve the efficacy of therapies by measuring drug delivery and response to treatment.
