An improved version of Carnivol's 4K upload of this movie at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8J_b8lUajy4, restored with AviSynth.

According to Carnivol, the 16mm film reel was scanned at 4K, so it should look superb. However, his YouTube upload doesn't look so good, probably because of YouTube's suboptimal compression. When zooming in on it, I found no gorgeous film grain as I would have expected; instead, I got the impression that the film had a layer of dust all over it, so I just went and wiped it out with a denoise filter (without sacrificing detail). Another important issue are the severe banding artifacts in dark areas, which I tried to mitigate.

There are several people out there giving their best at "color correcting" this movie. I'm no expert at color grading, so the colors here are not much different than in Carnivol's upload. At first sight, my previous restoration from 2016 may appear to look prettier, but it is oversaturated and the colors in it are totally inaccurate. This time I have chosen to avoid arbitrary color tweaking and oversaturation.

Regarding the brightness adjustment, I'm afraid the dark areas may look a bit too dark; I tried to make it better, but the banding in the source video produced very unpleasant results, so I gave up on it.

The movie ends with a clip showing the improvements made in this restoration. The music in it is taken from MartyMcflies' high quality rip of the movie OST's vinyl (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM5PoBzzaiU). The subtitles have also been improved, with several translation mistakes fixed and styled text.
