This is part 1 in the series discussing modifications to the Accucraft Ruby live steam locomotive operated by the Oyster Creek Garden Railroad. The first section of this video describes the installation of a radio control system in the modified locomotive and the tender. The tender is made from a Lehmann toy train part. You may notice in the video that this modified Ruby moves forward when the Johnson bar is pulled back. As delivered, the Ruby moves forward when the Johnson bar is pushed forward. The valve timing on this locomotive is shifted 180 degrees from the factory setting. The reason for this will be discussed in a separate video on performance modifications.

The second section of this video discusses the installation and use of a pilot truck on this locomotive. A video segment is provided of the pilot truck guiding the locomotive into a turn.
